Less competition. Since popular thinking is often to wait until Spring to sell, fewer people are listing their homes for sale now. According to the Lancaster County Association of Realtors, new listings hitting the market were down 2.5% in August 2017 over 2016. This number is likely to
continue on a downward trend for the next several months. The fewer number of homes available for buyers to choose from makes the demand for your home even higher.
Serious buyers are still looking. Highly motivated buyers – like the ones who need to find a bigger home in Manheim Township, are downsizing in Penn Manor, or looking to make a move in Warwick – are still out there looking for homes. Buyers who need a new home, whatever the reason or the area, will continue to look for the perfect home throughout the fall and winter months. This means that when your home hits the market, it’s likely that there is a serious, ready-to-go buyer just waiting to snatch it up!
Holiday staging can be an asset to selling. The holidays offer the perfect time to make your home feel like just that – a home. Warm touches, soft lighting, elegant, homey holiday decor can set the stage for buyers to fall in love with the feel of your home. When emotion is involved, buyers are much more likely to become invested in a home and make a move.
Mortgage rates. Mortgage rates are still at historically low numbers. The mortgage industry is often an unpredictable one, and no one can say where rates may be in six months. What we can say, however, is that they are still low – making now a great time to buy a home. Low rates, coupled with the reasons listed above, make now a great time to sell your home.
