A few of us here at The Craig Hartranft Team spent a chunk of our weekend out in our yards, landscaping, mulching, mowing and power washing; so we thought it’d be a great time to look at outside projects, and what pays off when you’re getting ready to sell your home.Â
The National Association of Realtors recently released a report called Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features in which realtors were surveyed in their experiences and beliefs regarding outside projects around the home. Ninety-nine percent of realtors surveyed said that curb appeal is important when selling a home, and 94% said they’ve told sellers to spruce up the curb appeal before putting their home on the market. And we totally agree!
Let’s face it, a home with fresh cut grass, well manicured and mulched flower beds, and clean outdoor spaces will certainly attract more buyers than those that aren’t as well cared for.
Realtors listed the following as the top five outdoor projects that are most likely to add value: landscape maintenance, overall landscape upgrade, standard lawn care service, new patio, or new deck. Standard lawncare service is seen as the top outdoor item that grabs a buyer’s appeal – and is likely the most cost efficient as well.
Bottom line: Whether you’re selling a home in rancher in Manheim Township, a townhouse in Hempfield, a single-family home in Warwick, or anything in between, spending a little time working on the outside of your home can go a long way in attracting buyers and offers.
