Lancaster County Real Estate Market Update

The beginning of the month means it’s time for our monthly Lancaster real estate market update – as provided by the Lancaster County Association of Realtors (LCAR). Here’s a snapshot of what’s been going on in the local market:

  • 553 homes sold in September 2017 (4.7% decrease from 2016)
  • 653 new listings in September 2017 (1.7% decrease from 2016)
  • Over 74% of homes sold in September were on the market 60 days or less
  • Average sales price in September 2017 was $206,646 (a 5.5% increase from September 2016)

“Continuing inventory constraints led to the highest ever quarterly average sale price for local home sales—limited options mean buyers are willing to pay more in order to get the home they want,” said LCAR president Jennifer King. “The housing demand in Lancaster County is near an all-time high, and this year truly exemplifies what a textbook seller’s market looks like.”
