This summer has been one of the most active real estate markets Lancaster has seen in several years, with June being the busiest month ever. In June, Lancaster saw 697 homes sold, the most ever sold in a month, with the closest being 666 sold in June 2004. The average sales price in June of $222,983 was also the highest average sales price Lancaster has ever seen.
The Lancaster County Association of Realtors (LCAR) releases a press release each month with a current market update. Market stats have taken a step back in August; here are the latest figures released by LCAR today:
- 575 homes sold in August 2017
- 751 new listings in August 2017
- $204,703 – average sales price in August 2017
- For the first 8 months of 2017 there have been 4,125 homes sold, a 3.2% increase over last year
“Even though home sales and the average sale price took a step back in August, our pending numbers show that settled units will rebound in the next several months,” said LCAR president Jennifer King. “The theme for the year continues to be strong home sales in spite of very tight inventory constraints, which translates into a listing typically spending a very short amount of time on the market.”
