About Manheim Township
Manheim Township is one of the fastest growing suburban townships in Lancaster County. It is located in the center of Lancaster County, bordering the City of Lancaster to the north. It is the only First Class Township in the county and occupies 23.4 square miles. The developed areas of the township are predominantly residential, with industrial and commercial activity prevalent near the city, and agriculture dominating the northern section of the township. A variety of housing options are available including single-family homes, duplexes, condominiums, town homes and apartments in neighborhoods such as Beverly Estates, Bloomingdale, Blossom Hill, Clearview, Country Club Heights, Eden, Glen Moore, Homeland, Kenwick Village, Landis Valley, Neffsville, Oregon, Penn Rose Park, Roseville and Shreiners.
US News and World Report has ranked the Manheim Township School District’s high school as one of America's best! The analysis spanned more than 18,750 public high schools in 40 states and narrow the group down to the top 505 schools in the nation. The magazine then assigned gold, silver and bronze medals. Manheim Township earned a silver medal.
There are numerous parks including Bucher, Community, Landis Woods, Stauffer, and Municipal Park; as the name implies this park accommodates the Township’s Municipal Building, Police Building and Ambulance Building. The Overlook Community Campus is centrally located with access drives from Fruitville Pike, Delp Road and Lititz Pike (through the golf course). This park has a number of facilities and amenities including a golf course, miniature golf course (Overlook Falls), dog park, skateboard park, swimming pool, and the Overlook Activities Center, which houses a roller skating rink and gymnasium. There is also a renovated barn which has been turned into a restaurant called Barney’s Grill.
Residents are invited to celebrate Community Day, an annual event held in September on the Saturday after Labor Day. First held in 1990, events include a parade, golf tournament, craft show and exhibits from community organizations.
