About Ephrata Area
The Ephrata Area School District is located in the northeastern section of Lancaster County and is comprised of Clay and Ephrata townships. Popular towns include Akron, Clay, Frysville, Mt Airy and Springville. The school district's location near the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other highways provides easy access to other areas for commuters.
The historical community of Ephrata has the largest population, and is the economic and cultural center of the district. Ephrata residents and visitors enjoy a nice commercial area complete with a wide assortment of quality retail stores plus an abundance of cultural and recreational facilities. There are many historic buildings that add a special charm and character to the community, and numerous fine residential sections and neighborhoods. Popular community events include fireworks, Ephrata Cloister Community Days, the Annual Street Fair, and the Ephrata Merchant Association’s Annual Art and Craft Festival and Restaurant Fair.
Some popular attractions in the area include the Ephrata Cloister: a National Historic Landmark and one of America's earliest religious communities founded in 1732 by German settlers; and the Green Dragon Farmers Market.
